Yuki Tsunoda (Carlin) dominates qualifying in Austria

Japanese Yuki tsunoda (Carlin) took the first pole (1'14"803) of his career in Formula 2. The pilot supported by Red Bull in fact ahead of the two UNI-Virtuosi pilots, the Chinese Guanyu-Zhou (+0 »038) and the British Callum Ilott (+0 »085). A great reaction for the Carlin driver, who completely missed out on his inaugural weekend.

And if this qualifying session took place on the same circuit as last weekend, its result is very different. In difficulty during the opening round, regulars Jack Aitken (5th, Campos) and Luca Ghiotto (4th, Hitech) found performance to climb to the second and third row. The two men are ahead of Robert Shwartzman (6th), who finishes ahead of his teammate Mick Schumacher (9e)

Difficult qualification for ART and DAMS

French side, Giuliano Alesi only set the 21st time. As for the two French teams, accustomed to the top of the timesheet, it was complicated. For ART Grand Prix, Christian Lundaard set the 8th fastest time (+0 »2), four places ahead of his teammate Marcus Armstrong (12th, +0 »4). DAMS had even more difficulty with the 15th and 16th places of Dan Ticktum and Sean Gelael.

Note that Louis Deletraz and Pedro Piquet, the two Charouz drivers, are both sanctioned with a place on the grid, for having joined the pitlane F1 on rain tires from the F2 paddock. The Swiss will start from 19th place while his Brazilian teammate will start just in front of him (18th).
