Thunderstorms and violent downpours disrupted the Moto2 races and MotoGP on the Buriram side. Marc Marquez is one of those who likes these conditions and the Spaniard has lived up to his reputation. From eighth on the grid, Marquez quickly worked his way through the pack to move up to fourth.

Beaten by Zarco in the final laps, the eight-time world champion still took 11 points for fifth position. “I’m happy with the race overall,” says Marquez. I was still able to have a solid race by avoiding mistakes and staying calm at the start. Races in the wet are always very long, so you have to be careful. Then I felt better, and I gained time on the group in front, but it was impossible to overtake Bagnaia. The acceleration of the Ducati is very good. We continue to work and try to improve everything, it was a good weekend where we were competitive in the wet and in the dry. Now we have a week off to recover a little and continue our training in order to be in good shape for the last three races of the year. »

This performance allows him to gain two places overall and move to 13th ahead of the next meeting in Australia. Note that in two races, Marquez has scored 24 points, a little less than half that of his teammate Pol Espargaro since the opening of the season (49 points).
