Jorge Martin: “I hope tomorrow will be a great day”

Jorge Martin once again excelled in the Sprint exercise this Saturday in Valencia. Starting 6th on the starting grid, the Spaniard did not show the slightest sign of weakness and flew to victory after swallowing up his competitors.

The gap with Francesco Bagnaia – 5th at the finish – therefore drops from 21 to 14 units. However, the state of mind will be the same when approaching the Main Race: give everything and hope for a fault on the other side.

“It’s better than yesterday, that’s clear, begins a Martin who seems relieved when speaking to the media. All that's left to do is repeat, hoping that Bagnaia's race is less good. I can't say that I'm sure of winning, because I still have in mind last week's tire incident in Qatar

I enjoyed a lot today, because I don't know what tomorrow will bring, continues number 89. However, it is certain that Pecco has a lot more to lose than me, because my second place in the championship is already assured. The only thing I can do is go first. »

“30% chance of success? A little optimistic” according to Martin

Concerning the probability of being titled, his victory in the Sprint did not make him more confident. This is evidenced by his response when a journalist asked him if he agreed to say that he now has a 30% chance of being champion, which leaves 70 for Bagnaia.

“It’s a little optimistic, recognizes the Pramac pilot, but if I'm told that I have a 30% chance of winning the world crown, I'll sign! Five drivers to overtake doesn't seem like much to me, but Pecco is a world champion, and he has the ability to score a podium or fight for victory.

However, I keep in mind that last year he finished ninth (7 points), a similar result this year will almost allow me to settle for second place (20 points).

The support from the fans is incredible here, and I think that's also what brought me this result today. It's not an easy weekend because the pressure is enormous. However, I see that all of Spain is behind me and I hope that tomorrow will be a great day." concludes the native of San Sebastian de los Reyes.

See you this Sunday at 15:00 p.m., to follow the last event of this season of MotoGP, at the end of which we will know the name of the 2023 world champion.
