Contested on a wet track, Qualifying for the Spanish Grand Prix of MotoGP saw the hierarchy being shaken up. While Brad Binder took charge of the session, it was Marc Marquez who, in a final effort, set the best time.

Celebrating in front of his audience his first pole position with the Gresini Ducati team, and the 93rd of his career, the multiple world champion sees this result as a reflection of his progress aboard his Desmosedici GP23.

“I am very happy with my first pole position with Gresini, comments Marquez after Qualifying. It's been a while since I qualified on pole, and it shows that I'm adapting to the car. During the session I also made my first rescue of the season with the bike, another sign that everything is going in the right direction. »

Marc Marquez's last pole position dates back to the 2023 Portuguese Grand Prix. And if he is delighted to be in front again, the Spaniard prefers not to set his expectations too high, keeping a reasonable objective for both weekend races.

“We have to stay calm, there are still the two races of the weekend, starting with the Sprint, continues number 93. The objective when starting from pole will be to finish on the podium. »

While the weather could once again prove unpredictable, Marc Marquez will have a first opportunity to secure this pole during the first of the two races of the weekend which will begin at around 15:00 p.m.
