It is now official, Miguel Oliveira will ride for Yamaha next year. Long tipped as one of the main candidates for a seat at Pramac Racing, Iwata's future satellite team, the rumor has finally been confirmed.
The 29-year-old will have a two-year contract with the factory, which will see him ride for Pramac until at least the end of 2026. As announced when Pramac and Yamaha sealed their deal, Oliveira will have an official machine, an M1 identical to that of fabio quartararo and Alex Rins.
A decision that was taken in the interest of the factory, which wants to catch up with other brands as quickly as possible.
“We are pleased to announce that a professional and experienced rider like Miguel Oliveira is joining Yamaha for 2025 and 2026, says Lin Jarvis, director of Yamaha. We welcome him to the Yamaha project MotoGP »
A choice that is justified by the experience and the already well-filled track record of Miguel Oliveira. During the six years he spent in MotoGP, 5 victories and 7 podiums can be attributed to the number 88. Since his debut in the World Championship, 14 years ago, Oliveira has a total of 41 podiums (21 in Moto2 and 13 in Moto3).

A new adventure for Oliveira
A new chapter in Miguel Oliveira's career is about to begin. A signing that the main person concerned, who has so far been without a handlebar for 2025, welcomes as a privilege.
“It’s a great honour for me to represent such an iconic brand as Yamaha. During my years in MotoGP, I have always looked at the blue bikes with great enthusiasm” adds Oliveira.
“I think I can be useful in this transition period. To bring the bike back to the top. I want to thank Mr. Campinoti, Gino Borsoi and the entire Pramac team. Thank you for choosing me to embark on this adventure together. I am very happy. I can’t wait to start this new chapter.” he concluded.
It remains to be seen which rider will be the Portuguese's teammate next year. The name of Jack Miller, current KTM factory rider, recently came out of the woodworks.
