The promotion of Pedro Acosta to the premier category during the month of October forced the Spaniard to have to make a choice regarding the number that would decorate his machine.

Accustomed to riding the bike bearing the number 37, the now GasGas Factory Racing Tech3 rider could no longer use it, the sticker already being present under the handlebars of Augusto Fernandez, who is none other than his garage neighbor .

Often questioned on the subject, the reigning Moto2 world champion began to build a mystery around this number, not wishing to reveal it until the very last moment. The native of Mazarrón, having fun with the situation, went so far as to launch #GuessTheNumber.

After much speculation, the man who is parting ways with the number that saw him win the Moto3 and Moto2 titles in the space of three seasons has lifted the veil on his decision at the same time as he left the pitlane to perform his first turns of the wheel in MotoGP. Acosta will ultimately defend No. 31.

The number being written in such a way that the 1 resembles a 7, suggests that it has in some way managed to retain its favorite mark.
