Alex Marquez and Fabio Di Giannantonio, confirmed at Gresini for 2023

It's official: the Gresini team led by Nadia Padovani, widow of Fausto Gresini, has just announced the arrival of Alex Marquez and the extension of Fabio Di Giannantonio's contract.

Marquez is therefore leaving the LCR structure and the ranks of Honda to join the Ducati clan alongside the Italian who is currently competing in his first season in the premier category. “I am very happy to announce my arrival within the Gresini team MotoGP, and I am also very enthusiastic about starting this new adventure, specifies Marquez. It was crucial for me to change in order to find the same type of motivation that I had when I joined this category. It was the best option for me, with a team that helped write the history of this championship. »

For his part, Di Giannantonio, author of pole position in Italy, says he is also delighted to continue the adventure in the premier category. “It’s great because we are going to continue on this learning curve, and we will do it with a Ducati, that makes me very happy,” underlines the rookie. Continuity is essential in MotoGP so that I can work on myself to be the best I can be. We've been working on this contract extension for a while and now we can finally announce it. Obviously, the objectives will be higher: we will use this second part of the season to improve our results and then, next year, I really want to move up a gear. »

The departure of Marquez therefore opens the doors to Alex Rins who should announce his arrival at LCR very soon. It remains to be seen where Enea Bastianini will go: Pramac or the official team? The decision will be taken at the end of August according to Paolo Ciabatti, sporting director of Ducati Corse, but it is probably towards the satellite team that the Italian is destined and Jorge Martin should therefore become Francesco Bagnaia's new teammate.
