While his brother Marc will join the ranks of the official Ducati team in 2025, Álex Márquez will continue in the satellite team founded by the late Fausto Gresini. The youngest sibling joined Gresini Racing last year and finished on the podium twice, also winning two Sprints, at Silverstone and Malaysia. Moto3 world champion in 2014 and Moto2 in 2019, Márquez made his premier class debut in 2020, at Repsol Honda, already alongside his brother Marc.

After losing Pramac to Yamaha, Ducati still hasn't decided which independent team it will entrust with factory bikes next year. However, it seems that an agreement with VR46 is in the cards. Marquez would therefore, as in 2024, be equipped with the previous version of the Desmosedici GP.

Following the numerous departures in Bologna, Álex Marquez is the first rider to sign with a Ducati satellite team for the next tour of the MotoGP. Having played alongside Fabio Di Giannantonio in 2023, and his brother Marc in 2024, the No. 73 will more than likely be supported by a third teammate in as many seasons.

At this stage, it is difficult to put forward the name of the latter. The Franco Morbidelli option nevertheless remains possible. The Italian made it clear that he would not continue with Pramac next year, and that he wanted above all to find a handlebar that would allow him to continue riding a Ducati. If the door was closed to him on the VR46 side, Gresini Racing could be his plan B.
