While he struggles to compare himself to his teammate, Álex Rins has taken stock of the difference that separates him from fabio quartararo. On the sidelines of the Dutch Grand Prix in Assen, he admitted that he knew what he was missing. Arriving with ideas on the eve of the tenth round of the championship, he delivered a precise analysis of the points to improve to get closer to the benchmark for the French team.
According to the Spaniard, the main difference with Fabio Quartararo is in the braking phases: "The styles are different. But it's true that on a fast lap, Fabio, since the beginning of the year, has shown that he's very strong. He's achieved a record three pole positions (now four. Editor's note). In Italy, he fought for the front row and finished on the second."
"It's incredible. Looking at the data, the only big difference is the braking: he brakes later and is able to reduce speed to enter the bend. We're a bit on the limit in that regard. Sometimes he brakes 15 meters later at the end of a straight, it's huge."
Rins tries, but can't do it
While Alex Rins is trying to understand how his garage neighbor stands out so much, he still can't seem to replicate his actions on the M1. He attributes this performance deficit to experience: "I try to replicate his performance, but then I can't get into the curve."
He therefore salutes the talent of his teammate: "Ultimately, the DNA is the same, it's a bike that Fabio knows very well. It's a characteristic that he has with this bike, and hats off to him."
In the Netherlands, he once again failed to put theory into practice. While Fabio Quartararo excels over one lap, this is Alex Rins's weakness at the start of the season. He started 19th on the grid, while his garage neighbor secured his fourth pole position of 2025.
