While Ducati dominated Friday at Jerez, setting the fastest lap in each of the Spanish GP practice sessions MotoGPAprilia did not disappoint. For the first time since the 2024 Aragon Grand Prix, all four Noale machines made it into Q2. The first of these was none other than Marco Bezzecchi's, who finished third in the afternoon session.
On a circuit that seems less suited to the RS-GP than the three visited so far, the championship leader says he is satisfied with this first day of action at the Spanish Grand Prix.
"It was a good Friday," he told the media present in Jerez, including AUTOhebdo. It's always important, fundamental even, I'd say, to get into Q2, and so that's always the primary objective. Álex [Márquez] and Diggia [Fabio Di Giannantonio] made the difference, especially Álex. But I wasn't bad either.
“I’m fast, but not fast enough,” He continues. However, it was certainly a weekend start that exceeded expectations, because last year we struggled a lot here. People always say we're the best, but here we have a hard time, and we had a hard time again today, but we laid a good foundation, so I'm happy.
When questioned about Borgo Panigale's performance this Friday, Marco Bezzecchi did not elaborate on the subject: "My God, I didn't see them much on the track today, I was concentrating on my motorcycle." His work paid off, as he was able to identify the weaknesses of his machine on the circuit.
Aprilia now needs to work to try and make the difference tomorrow, and thus make up the few tenths they are missing on the GP26s of Márquez and Di Giannantonio: "With the soft tire, I'm still struggling a bit, I'm not comfortable, neither with the race pace with the soft, nor with the fast lap," concludes Marco Bezzecchi.
