After a Sprint largely dominated by Maverick Vinales, the MotoGP appears for the last time of the weekend on the Circuit of the Americas to compete in the main race. Batmav will once again try to contain Pedro Acosta and Marc Marquez behind him, while Francesco Bagnaia will have to bounce back after an anonymous Sprint.

Race :

  • Pedro Acosta made the best start and took control of the race during the first braking. Behind, Vinales found himself battling with Francesco Bagnaia, and lost a lot of positions trying to avoid the collision. It was also very close between Marc Marquez and Jorge Martín, but both drivers managed to stay at the front.
  • After the first pass, the young rookie leads the way ahead of Jorge Martin, Jack Miller and Marc Marquez, while Francesco Bagnaia begins his rise in the peloton.

  • From the second lap, the championship leader began to attack Acosta who showed great control to stay in front. Behind, Bagnaia is already there, and begins to put pressure on the Pramac driver. Marc Marquez then observed the leading trio competing for the leadership position without however taking any initiative.
  • As soon as the S came out on the fourth lap, Martin made an incisive attack on Acosta and passed. Behind, Marquez wakes up and gets rid of Bagnaia and Acosta in a few curves.

  • The four men do not allow themselves any moment of respite and the attacks follow one another. During the 6th pass, Marquez throws himself inside and touches Martin, which allows Bagnaia and Acosta to recover second and third positions.

  • However, the eight-time world champion has not said his last word. Once he had made up for his delay, he took the advantage over Bagnaia who began to lose ground, before paying the price for Vinales' return. This time-consuming duel relegated the two men to one second of the top-3.
  • At the start of the second part of the test, Acosta and Marquez left Martin behind and began to engage in an intense fight. After taking the lead, Marquez lost concentration and fell while preparing his defense on the 19-year-old driver. Behind, Vinales returned. Nine laps before the finish, the fight for victory begins between these two men.

  • The No. 12 quickly sets his pace, and strings together the best laps in the race to create a one-second advantage. A gap that he maintained until the 18th lap, when Acosta – who was then flourishing with his fastest times despite the wear of his rubber – came back slightly.
  • Vinales, however, managed his lead and achieved his first success in the main race of the season, becoming the first rider in the MotoGP era to win with three bikes from different brands. Acosta takes his second MotoGP podium and proves he can be a contender for victory.

  • Unable to follow the leading men, Bagnaia was suspended by his teammate and finished the race in 5th position. Bastianini will then try to worry a dying Martin with his tires, and will manage to deprive him of a podium.
  • Note the falls of Johann Zarco, Takaaki Nakagami and Franco Morbidelli in the first half of the race. Alex Rins and Joan Mir will later retire.
  • fabio quartararo was in difficulty during the event with his Yamaha, and ranked 12th at the finish.
