fabio quartararo couldn't hope for worse at the Emilia-Romagna GP, the second meeting of the calendar in Misano. The Frenchman, in difficulty on a wet track, had to go through the repechage. Although he was at the forefront throughout Q1, he was ultimately credited with the third fastest time before it was canceled for not having respected the yellow flag. The Niçois will therefore have to line up in 15th position on the grid, his worst result in qualifying.
And to top it all off, Q2 was dominated by his one and only opponent in the person of Francesco Bagnaia. The Italian achieved something that only Marc Marquez, Maverick Viñales or Jorge Martin had achieved before him: get through Q1 and take pole position.
On the grid on Sunday, he will start ahead of Jack Miller and Luca Marini; the rookie signing his best result in qualifying. Pol Espargaro places the first Honda in fourth position ahead of the KTM of Miguel Oliveira and the Yamaha of Franco Morbidelli.
Marc Marquez, first the victim of a big scare in his first flying lap, qualified seventh after falling before the checkered flag. Iker Lecuona placed eighth after also falling just like his teammate Danilo Petrucci, ninth. Johann Zarco fell on his last lap and took the 10th time.
