In Marc Márquez's backyard at the Circuit of the Americas, it was Pecco Bagnaia who emerged victorious! The No. 63 driver, of course, benefited from his garage neighbor's mistake, who crashed while dominating this third Grand Prix of the season. However, if the logic of the early season had been respected, it would have been Álex Márquez who would have reclaimed the victory laurels. The younger brother of the family had to settle once again for second place, behind a Bagnaia who regained his form.
The two-time 2022 and 2023 world champion managed to maintain a steady pace and overtake the No. 73 Gresini Ducati on a circuit where he wasn't expecting to shine. Once he crossed the finish line, the Italian burst into joy. A long lap back to the pits allowed him to savor this victory, which brings him within twelve points of the new championship leader, Álex Márquez.
In the Parc Fermé, Bagnaia spoke about this victory, which marks the end of a period of doubt for the number 63, who has been outclassed by the Márquez brothers since the start of the season.
“I’m really delighted, I can’t speak from how loud I screamed during the first lap! What a great feeling to be back on the top step of the podium after such a difficult period. I want to thank my entire team who, as usual, are doing an exceptional job. Thanks also to Valentino Rossi and all his teams, who work hard and continue to support me."
This thanks is not insignificant. A pure product of the VR46 Academy, Francesco Bagnaia is the first to have reached the summit by becoming world champion MotoGPHe remains very close to Valentino Rossi, who also enters his own team in the premier class. Given Rossi's history with Marc Márquez, one imagines that the party was in full swing in Tavullia, Italy, as if the local boy himself had triumphed that Sunday evening.
