The reigning world champion, Francesco Bagnaia, is having a lively start to the campaign, to say the least, where there are many opponents. A situation that he is unable to control, sometimes adopting too careful driving because he is not as comfortable as his rivals behind the handlebars of his machine.

Currently fifth in the Drivers' Championship with 50 points, the No. 1 arrives in Jerez thinking only of victory. The favorite of the previous editions of the Spanish Grand Prix is counting on the fourth meeting of the season to wake up.

“During the last two Grands Prix, we were on the defensive, remember the Italian. Jerez presents a different challenge to the circuits we have raced on so far, so we have to work.

It is essential to diligently understand how the GP24 behaves on this circuit, continues Bagnaia. In the last two years we have had two fantastic victories here, and I will be fighting for the top places again this weekend. There will be no shortage of fast drivers, it won't be easy, but we are ready to give everything. »

Especially since on the other side of the Reds garage, Enea Bastianini is in astonishing form. Rewarded with two podiums during the last two stages of the calendar, the Italian ranks second overall and arrives in Jerez full of confidence.

“Last year I tried to come back here after my shoulder injury, but I wasn't ready and had to retire before the two races, remembers Bastianini. This year we are racing in Spain after two podiums, and although Jerez is a very different track to Austin, we have every chance of repeating.

I'm ready to tackle another solid weekend, warns number 23. I found sensations with the bike again. I will make sure to be more consistent in the early stages of the race and more decisive in the sprint. »

Note that Ducati has a total of 10 podiums on the Andalusian circuit, while it has triumphed there four times, including three since 2021. Previously, only Loris Capirossi (2006) had climbed to the highest step of the podium with the Bologna factory in Jerez.
