Bagnaia smashes record at Sachsenring

We are dangerously approaching the fateful 1'20 mark at the Sachsenring. And for good reason ! Riding his Ducati Desmosedici GP22, Francesco Bagnaia set a new lap record on the German track with a time of 1’20.018.

If the Italian is a little more than a tenth ahead of Luca Marini, his closest pursuer also below the previous record held by Marc Marquez in 1'21.195, 17 drivers are within less than nine tenths of the combined standings. two free practice sessions.

Leader of the morning, Jack Miller occupies third position with eight thousandths ahead of Aleix Espargaro. Long outside the Top 10, Johann Zarco caught up in the final minutes to climb into fifth position ahead of his teammate Jorge Martin.

fabio quartararo places the first non-Italian motorcycle seventh in the hierarchy ahead of Maverick Viñales, Fabio Di Giannantonio and the first Suzuki of Joan Mir.

Alex Rins, who took advantage of Quartararo's wheel in his last run just like Alex Marquez, fails at the gates of the Top 10 with 11e chrono. Other losers of the day included Enea Bastianini, 13e, or the KTM clan led by Miguel Oliveira, 17e just 0.897s from Bagnaia.
