In a lively qualifying session at the Goiânia circuit, Marco Bezzecchi managed to secure second place on the grid, just behind Fabio Di Giannantonio. Like his compatriot, the Italian had to navigate a particularly competitive Q1, where several fast riders battled for the only two spots in Q2. In this first phase, marked by still unstable conditions and costly mistakes for some, Bezzecchi quickly found his rhythm and took the lead. Despite a slight scare on his final run when he ran off into the gravel, he maintained his qualifying position, thus securing his place in Q2, just ahead of Di Giannantonio.
In Q2, the Aprilia rider confirmed this momentum by placing himself at the top of the timesheets, taking advantage of an improving track and adjustments made since the previous day, but above all the numerous crashes of the favorites including the two Ducati riders and Pedro Acosta. “It was a good session in Q1, but it’s always very difficult because a lot of drivers were very fast. It helped me for Q2, of course, but it was also difficult to make it through. Luckily, it worked out, the guys did a great job, we understood what didn’t work yesterday, and today I felt a bit better.”
While his one-lap performance is there, Bezzecchi remains cautious about his chances in the race: "I still think my pace isn't good enough in the race; I haven't been able to work on it much, but we'll see how it goes in the sprint. I'll do my best." In a weekend where reference points are still limited for the entire field, who are discovering the circuit, this front-row start nevertheless offers a solid foundation. It remains to be seen whether Bezzecchi can convert this position into a result in the Sprint, before a Grand Prix that promises to be particularly open.
