Binder wins on eggshells in Austria

What an incredible race Red Bull Ring! If the race was declared “dry”, the rain came to spoil the party halfway through. But gradually, the few seemingly innocuous drops of rain gave way to a downpour that completely upset the hierarchy.

The first rounds were dominated by Francesco Bagnaia, who led the proceedings before being caught by fabio quartararo, author of a cautious start, and Marc Marquez. Johann Zarco and his teammate Jorge Martin were not far away, but the Frenchman made a mistake before the rain intensified.

When it was time to go to the box to change bikes, there were only three laps to go. And Brad Binder, then in eighth position, did not hesitate to keep the slicks and finish the race with a series of slides.

He finally won ahead of Bagnaia, who performed well in the championship, and Martin, who scored his second podium in a row. Joan Mir fails at the foot of the podium in front of Luca Marini, the half-brother of Valentino Rossi who achieved his best result in the premier category.

Quartararo saves the points for seventh place and, thanks to Zarco's fall, further consolidates his lead in the general standings since he now has a 47-length lead over Bagnaia before the next meeting at Silverstone.
