In the wake of the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team presentation, the team's manager, Francesco Guidotti, had confirmed that Dani Pedrosa would have an invitation to the Spanish Grand Prix. This will be Dani Pedrosa's second race on the RC16. His last stint dates back to the 2021 Styrian GP, which he finished in tenth position.

The objective for Dani Pedrosa will be to bring his expertise and experience in this season marked by numerous regulatory changes : " I assume you are aware, but I will be making a wildcard appearance at Jerez this year. I am very happy with this opportunity offered by KTM. The objective will mainly be to gain experience, with this new format which now incorporates sprint races, he explained. Hoping to collect as much data as possible. »

The native of Sabadell in Catalonia has never managed to win the world crown in Moto GP despite 31 victories and 3 vice-championship titles in 2007, 2010 and 2012. However, he has 3 world titles to his impressive record, one in 125cc in 2003 and two in 250cc in 2004 and 2005.

From 2002 to 2017, Dani achieved the feat for 17 consecutive seasons of winning at least one victory. Retired since 2018, he never let go of the handlebars, initially for his core team Repsol Honda, before joining KTM, becoming in the shadows a spearhead of the Austrian manufacturer's offensive.

“I am also very happy to compete in this event, because as you know Jerez has a special flavor in my eyes, Dani says. There is a great atmosphere there and I hope to meet as many fans as possible. I am also delighted to share the track in the company of the best drivers in the world. If you can't come, I hope you enjoy this weekend as much as I do, from your television set. »

At 37 years old, the pocket rider will have with this wildcard a new opportunity to add a new line to his prestigious world motorcycle history in Jerez.
