MotoGP arrives at the Sachsenring for the eleventh round of the 2026 season, the final Grand Prix before the summer break. Ducati comes to Germany buoyed by the euphoria of World Ducati Week, which drew 118,000 spectators. Marc Márquez and Francesco Bagnaia will be eager to finish this first part of the season on a high note.

The Sachsenring is a unique circuit in the calendar MotoGP for all teams, including Ducati. Its 3,671 kilometers, with 13 corners, 10 of which are left-handers, make it a particularly demanding track for the riders' left shoulder. 

But above all, it's the historic hunting ground of one man: Marc Márquez. The Spaniard boasts nine victories there in the premier class, including eight consecutive wins. A record that has no equal in modern MotoGP, and one that the Ducati rider approaches with remarkable composure despite the physical limitations that still plague him.

"From a physical point of view, I'm certainly going to suffer, but the layout of this circuit requires less energy. We can stay in the slipstream of the fastest drivers.""He declared, realistic about his limitations but confident in the potential of his Desmosedici GP on a track where he has always managed to get the best out of any motorcycle. Last year at the Sachsenring, the Spaniard achieved the double – Sprint and race – including a grand slam on Sunday – victory by leading every lap and fastest lap in the race. The benchmark to beat is himself."

Francesco Bagnaia seeks answers after Assen

For Francesco Bagnaia, the approach is different. At Assen last weekend, his weekend ended with a retirement that took its toll — "I was really disappointed, especially considering the work done with the team.", he admitted. 

The Sachsenring isn't among his favorite circuits, but the Italian driver did secure a podium finish there in 2025 and a victory in 2024, which puts that judgment into perspective. With 130 points in the championship and eighth place overall, the objective is clear: to avoid losing any more ground to the leaders before the season resumes in August.
