The transfer market MotoGP has been lively throughout the summer, and since the season restarted at Silverstone (Great Britain). The latest operations have welcomed a few promotions from the intermediate class of the world championships. Two additional Moto2 riders will thus be lined up on the grid next year.

There are now 19 who have already locked in a seat for next year. Only the Pramac team has not yet officially announced any of its riders for the next MotoGP campaign. The current lull, however, gives us the opportunity to take stock of the provisional starting grid for 2025.

Ducati

  • Ducati Lenovo: Marc Marquez – Francesco Bagnaia

Marc Marquez will drive alongside Francesco Bagnaia in 2025, to join the factory structure of the Bologna brand. The Spaniard wasted no time in proving himself at Ducati, as he only needed seven races aboard the Desmosedici GP23 to convince the management to give him a chance to ride the latest version.

  • Gresini Racing: Alex Marquez – Fermin Aldeguer

Ducati took advantage of the end of the summer to add the final pieces of the puzzle of its formation for 2025. Thus, Fermin Aldeguer was made official alongside Alex Marquez in the Gresini family, both equipped with the GP24.

  • VR46: Fabio Di Giannantonio – Franco Morbidelli

At VR46, Fabio Di Giannantonio will be partnered by Franco Morbidelli. The former will, however, have the advantage of having the latest version of the DesmosediciGP, the future GP25. Morbidelli will continue for a second consecutive year with the 2024 specification, which could give him a certain advantage at the start of the season, being the only driver to do so.

KTM

  • Red Bull KTM: Pedro Acosta – Brad Binder

The announcement was obvious, as the young rookie had kept all his promises since the start of the season. Pedro Acosta will join Brad Binder – who already had a long-term contract – to become a KTM factory rider.

  • Gasgas Tech3: Enea Bastianini – Maverick Viñales

The second KTM line-up was, however, more surprising. While Enea Bastianini was expected to take over the management of the Austrian brand after being dismissed by Ducati, the French structure created a surprise by taking advantage of the opportunity to announce the arrival of Maverick Viñales from Aprilia. KTM thus represents the first MotoGP manufacturer to have made all its riders official for the next season.

Aprilia

  • Aprilia Racing: Jorge Martín – Marco Bezzecchi

Having no more options at Ducati, Jorge Martín will realize his dream of becoming a factory rider at Aprilia. The signing of the Spaniard in Noale was highly recommended by the future retiree, Aleix Espargaro, a great friend of the current leader of the championship. After the departure of Vinales, Martin's future teammate was also made official: it will be Marco Bezzecchi.

  • Trackhouse Racing: Raul Fernandez – Ai Ogura

It was one of the big news stories of August. After extending Raul Fernandez's contract, Trackhouse Racing has turned its back on its original first choice, Joe Roberts, to secure the services of the current second best rider in the Moto2 championship, Ai Ogura.

The Japanese will take over for the land of the rising sun while Takaaki Nakagami is expected to leave the discipline.

Honda

  • Repsol Honda: Luca Marini – Joan Mir

Luca Marini's contract assured the Italian a peaceful future. However, the official Honda team had not yet extended Joan Mir's contract. It is now done, the Spaniard will continue his adventure with the HRC until the end of 2026. An announcement which means that only one of the four Honda seats remains to be distributed.

  • LCR Honda: Johann Zarco – …

Johann Zarco also has an agreement with the Japanese brand for the rest of his career in MotoGP, which is not yet the case for his garage neighbor, Takaaki Nakagami, while a few Japanese riders are making a strong impression in the lower classes. However, some rumors suggest that the Thai in Moto2, Somkiat Chantra, is currently close to an agreement.

Yamaha

Fabio Quartararo will continue with Yamaha next year, and Alex Rins, who had started discussions to renew his contract at the beginning of the summer, will follow the Frenchman in the adventure.

  • Pramac Racing: /

The Pramac team has still not formalized any driver for the 2025 season. But the team has nevertheless announced major changes to come. Pramac Racing will be associated with Yamaha next year, as part of a multi-year collaboration. A project that interests many drivers, like Miguel Oliveira.
