MotoGP – Spanish Grand Prix
Relive the sprint race in live text
👋 Thank you all for following this particularly exciting sprint race with us on AUTOhebdo.fr. See you tomorrow at 14 PM for the Grand Prix, which we hope will be just as crazy!
🇫🇷 Respectively 7th and 8th, fabio quartararo Johann Zarco and Johann Zarco are both in the points! We were hoping for better from Zarco, second on the grid, but it's already very good that the Cannes native was able to see the finish line while many of his rivals fell.
🏆 Sprint race results
⚠️ As a reminder, there is a topic about Marc Marquez's pit entry following his crash, which could cause him a penalty.
🏁 MARC MARQUEZ WINS! The Spaniard triumphs amidst the chaos, despite crashing at the start of the rainy season. He finishes ahead of Pecco Bagnaia and Franco Morbidelli at the end of a completely crazy race where all the riders pitted to change bikes.
12 / 12 - And Johann Zarco is even 8th after overtaking Luca Marini, Brad Binder takes 4th place from Fabio Di Giannantonio.
12 / 12 - LAST ROUND! Johann Zarco moves up to 9th place and is in the points.
11 / 12 - Marc Marquez took the lead with a commanding overtake on Pecco Bagnaia. The Spaniard should cross the finish line first, but we'll have to wait a bit because his pit stop where he cut the grass after his crash could cost him a penalty.
11 / 12 - The provisional standings for this completely crazy race
10/12 – 💥 Marco Bezzecchi and Joan Mir crash, Fabio Quartararo drops to 7th!
10/12 – 🏳️ Everyone pits except Fermin Aldeguer, who is overtaken by Pecco Bagnaia, the new leader ahead of Marc Marquez!
9/12 – 💥Series of crashes! Alex Marquez, Jack Miller, and Pedro Acosta are all down. It's crazy what's happening!
9/12 – 🏳️ After his crash, Marquez returns to the pits to get his rain-set bike; Binder, Bagnaia, and Morbidelli have also returned. Is this the right gamble?
9/12 – 💥 MARC MARQUEZ FALLS!
9/12 – 🟡 YELLOW FLAG! Toprak Razgatlioglu fell, taking Lorenzo Savadori down with him.
8 / 12 - He's overtaken Alex Marquez! A very nice attack from the Gresini rider who takes the lead while Fabio Di Giannantonio continues to come back like a bullet.
7 / 12 - Up front, the gaps have narrowed: Alex Marquez has closed the gap to Marc Marquez, while Fabio Di Giannantonio has taken advantage to close the gap to the Spanish duo. There are now only seven tenths of a second between the Italian and the Gresini of the younger Marquez brother, whereas it was 1.4 seconds a lap ago.
6 / 12 - The provisional classification:
5/12 – 🇫🇷 Johann Zarco puts on a show! He crosses and uncrosses with Pedro Acosta and manages to pass in front of the Spaniard, who in the process is also overtaken by Enea Bastianini!
4 / 12 - Ouch, ouch, ouch… Johann Zarco loses two positions in quick succession to Fabio Di Giannantonio and Raul Fernandez. He is now trying to hold off the KTMs as the rain falls more and more heavily.
4/12 – 🏳️ WHITE FLAG! The race is now "flag-to-flag", so riders can come in to change bikes if the first drops of rain intensify.
3 / 12 - The provisional classification:
3 / 12 - Alex Marquez has moved ahead of Johann Zarco, who now has Fabio Di Giannantonio very close behind him.
2/12 – ⚠️ Technical problem for Jorge Martin! Just after taking 3rd place from Alex Marquez, the Spaniard parked, the front brake disc was incandescent, which is not normal.
1 / 12 - Mixed fortunes at Aprilia: Jorge Martin moves up to 4th, while Marco Bezzecchi missed his start and finds himself in 14th.
