And two for Martin!

Mission accomplished for Jorge Martin who offers Ducati its second pole position in the Red Bull Ring, a circuit on which the Bologna factory has five victories in six races.

However, it was not a foregone conclusion for the Madrilenian. fabio quartararo, in great shape in the dry and always excellent when it comes to chasing the time, first set a first benchmark in 1'23.075 during his first run. If Francesco Bagnaia came close to the circuit record for a moment, Martin managed to go under the 1'23 mark with a time of 1'22.994.

Quartararo managed to gain the advantage over his rival Ducati but his lap was canceled for exceeding the track limits. The Frenchman will therefore have to settle for third place on the grid. It will still be his 31ste starting from the front row… and on the 30 previous occasions, he finished on the podium one out of two times.

Jack Miller, who finished on the podium in both races at the Red Bull Ring last year, will lead the second row ahead of Joan Mir, who notched her best result since last year's European GP when she won her only victory in the premier category. Johann Zarco places the fourth Ducati in the hierarchy in sixth place.

Still struggling with his arm, Marc Marquez fell at the end of the session. He will occupy eighth position on the grid on Sunday. Note that this is the first time that he has missed the first two rows at the Red Bull Ring.

Winner of the last Styrian GP, Miguel Oliveira had to go through the repechage. Injured in the hand (small fracture), he still saved a 12e instead.
