Fabio Di Giannantonio will not secure his first Sprint victory at the Brazilian GP. Despite a perfect start, even pulling away from Marc Márquez during the opening laps, the Italian was ultimately overtaken by his rival on lap twelve of fifteen.

Looking back on his day, the VR46 driver can only be satisfied. However, focusing more specifically on his race, he regrets losing the victory due to minor details.

“I led the whole race, but I’m angry with myself,” he told the press at the end of the day. I gave Marc two chances to come back and overtake me. I lost the front several times at turn 12 and left the door too open. It was an easy pass for him. But we have to be happy and stay positive. There are a lot of positives. We'll try again tomorrow.

This second place nevertheless marks his best result in Sprint since the same result achieved in Hungary last year, where he also finished behind Marc Marquez.

This Sunday, Fabio Di Giannantonio will once again start from pole position in the main race of the Brazilian Grand Prix. He will be aiming for his second victory in MotoGP, following the one won in Qatar in 2023. The weather could play tricks on the drivers, but the Italian is not worried: "It's the same for everyone. You have to seize the opportunity and try to win. We also start from pole position. So we have to try to give it our all, whether it's in the rain or on a dry track."
