Fabio Quartararo dejected after the Italian GP: "The motivation is no longer there"

Nothing went right for Fabio Quartararo at Mugello. Starting from 17th on the grid aboard his Yamaha, the Frenchman was never able to climb the ranks and ultimately crossed the finish line in an anonymous 18th place. Disappointed by his Yamaha's performance and without a solution to his difficulties, the Frenchman offered a particularly bitter assessment after the race.

Fabio Quartararo dejected after the Italian GP: "The motivation is no longer there"

fabio quartararo Fabio Quartararo had a very difficult Italian Grand Prix this weekend. Throughout the weekend at Mugello, the Yamaha never seemed capable of competing with the Aprilia, Ducati, or KTM… Apart from a short battle with Pramac Yamaha's Turkish rider Toprak Razgatlıoğlu, Quartararo spent most of his afternoon far from the points at the back of the pack and without any real rivals to fight.

When reflecting on his weekend in an interview with Canal+, the world champion of MotoGP 2021 made no secret of its frustration. One can only have a negative view of this race. I tried to push a little in the middle of the race, but I was so close to the limit that I decided to slow down a bit because there's no point in giving so much energy to fight for a single point. I decided to cut back a little, not to take any risks, but I have nothing to say about this weekend. " explains Fabio Quartararo.

A worrying start to the season for Quartararo and Yamaha.

These statements perfectly illustrate the difficulties Yamaha has faced this season. Yet, the two previous races had offered some glimmers of hope with a fifth-place finish in Catalonia followed by a sixth-place finish at Le Mans. These positive results seemed to show some signs of progress, but they were quickly erased after the Italian weekend.

Speaking again to Canal+, the Frenchman made particularly strong remarks regarding his current state of mind. Today, the motivation is gone. I know that on other circuits, I'd probably feel better than I do here. But in any case, I'm leaving here really disappointed with the work we've done, and I'm glad the weekend is over. "said the Yamaha rider.

At this stage of the season, Quartararo is currently 15th in the world championship. This ranking is far from the Frenchman's ambitions, especially considering the 2026 season hasn't even reached its halfway point. This is cause for concern for both the Frenchman and the Yamaha team.

Fabio, I don't know your circle, but your manager friend, if he's capable, should tell you to stop whining. When you take 12 million euros a year, you have to respect the work of those who take care of your machine. In a company, that's dismissal for serious misconduct.
