Quite disappointed by the lack of real development brought to his Yamaha this year, fabio quartararo, who was coming to the end of his contract at the end of the season, had left all options open with a view to 2023. The Frenchman ended up lining up behind the choice of reason, that of staying for two additional years in a Japanese team in which he has been the leader since he joined it in 2021. The Niçois will therefore evolve with Yamaha until 2024.

“We are very happy to have reached an agreement with Fabio to continue together for the 2023 season and beyond” rejoiced boss Lin Jarvis. The press release also suggests that major discussions may have taken place concerning the brand's investment and the developments to be expected in the coming months on the Frenchman's machine. “With Fabio, we know that he will always be 100% in terms of investment and effort, and we assured him that Yamaha would do the same, particularly on future developments, in order to fight together for the next championship titles. world champion. » 

“I am very happy to announce this news, explained Fabio for his part. Yamaha has believed in me from the very beginning and it's something I don't take lightly. Despite everything, this new agreement was a big decision to make. I'm at a great stage in my career so I took the time to reflect. I believe a lot in the Yamaha project, and I feel the team is absolutely motivated. From now on, we will be able to concentrate fully on the current season. 

As a reminder, Fabio Quartararo is currently leading the world championship in Moto GP with eight points ahead of his runner-up. This weekend, he will be in Montmelo for the Catalan Grand Prix.
