Fabio Quartararo takes a sensational pole at Le Mans: “It’s exceptional”

From his very first lap, Marc Márquez hit the clock so hard at the Le Mans circuit that there seemed to be little suspense left over as to who would be the pole-sitter. The Spaniard continued his relentless attacks until he was no longer able to improve his time with just a few seconds left.

The Ducati rider perhaps thought he was already out of reach, but that was without counting on an absolutely divine lap from fabio quartararo. Already the author of pole position at Jerez during the Spanish Grand Prix, the Nice native did it again to overtake the Márquez brothers on the gong and offer himself great joy in front of his home crowd.

"It's exceptional to take pole position here at Le Mans. It's truly incredible in front of the entire French crowd.", savors the 2021 world champion on Canal+ in front of white-hot stands, from which a fiery Marseillaise descended in his tribute. I knew we could make the front row, that was the goal, but I didn't expect to do such a fast time at all.", continues Quartararo, who set the circuit record, already beaten in practice by Marc Márquez on Friday.

Quartararo gets the crowd on its feet

This is his second pole position in France after the one he achieved in 2021, the year he won the title. “Being back on the front row in Qatar, taking pole position in Jerez, and then again here, it’s exceptional. Doing it in front of so many fans is special. The last time I did it here in 2021 was during the pandemic, so there weren’t as many fans,” notes the Yamaha rider.

In Jerez, Fabio Quartararo managed to get on his first podium of the season, but was unable to prevent Álex Márquez from taking his first victory in MotoGPIn La Sarthe, he once again believes it will be difficult to fight for victory, especially against Marc Márquez, who will start second in both races this weekend. "Now we have to concentrate on having a good race. Marc Márquez has a much higher pace than us, but the positive thing is that we're starting in front, so we'll try to have a good race like in Jerez." promises Quartararo.

Now he must continue to inspire the Le Mans crowd, so passionate and unanimously recognized as one of the best on the calendar by the drivers on the grid. So imagine the noise the stands would make if Fabio Quartararo ever managed to end three years without a victory...
