Like the FIA, the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) held its annual gala to honor its champions of the 2022 season. The event, organized in Rimini (Italy), brought together more than 800 people in the Palais Coastal City Congresses. The 2022 world champions were warmly applauded and honored on stage at the biggest gathering of the year, led by newly re-elected FIM President Jorge Viegas.

The audience was treated to an evening of entertainment, with representatives from all 115 national federations, motorcycling legends, various FIM members, championship promoters, manufacturer and team representatives, sponsors and others international guests.

Bagnaia, proud representative of Italy

Before presenting the medals to the 2022 “Ultimate” champions himself, Jorge Viegas first invited the legend of MotoGP Valentino Rossi to go on stage to receive a special prize. The native of Urbino was honored for his immense career, he who converted to GT this year with participation in the GT World Challenge Europe with WRT. Francesco Bagnaia was then called to receive a very symbolic medal for our transalpine friends, since the Ducati rider was the first Italian to win the MotoGP championship on an Italian machine since Giacomo Agostini in 1972. Other riders were celebrated for their world title, like Sam Sunderland (rally-raid), Tim Gajser (motocross) or even Alvaro Bautista (Superbike).

After closing the ceremony, the president of the FIM, Jorge Viegas was delighted with the holding of the event. “Once again, the FIM Awards were a truly extraordinary moment for the entire motorcycling community, the FIM family and all our 2022 World Champions. Rimini proved to be an excellent host and organized a very successful edition of this important event for the promotion of our magnificent sport throughout the world. Congratulations to our new and old champions, as well as everyone who contributed to the success of this evening. »
