Franco Morbidelli formalizes his transfer to VR46

Morbidelli joins VR46 – MotoGP

Franco Morbidelli will be Fabio Di Giannantonio's new teammate in 2025. The Italian has just formalized his signing in the team Valentino Rossi from the next campaign, when he will be equipped with the same machine he currently pilots, the Desmosedici GP-24.

The announcement had been expected for several weeks, and had already been revealed on Canal+ in Great Britain.

“What a beautiful story! I am very happy to announce that I have signed with the VR46 team for the 2025 season, comments the principal concerned. I will definitely feel at home here, I really want to do well. With good results we can find confidence. Both for myself and for the whole team.

I want to go back and rejoice again with the whole group, continues Morbidelli. A big thank you to the entire VR46 Riders Academy and to my management. Vale, Carlo, Uccio, Albi and Gianluca. Friends, but also key personalities of VR46. I can’t wait to start this new adventure together.”

This news allows us to complete the future starting grid a little more. MotoGP, while there is only one place left to fill at Ducati. Alex Marquez should, however, see Fermin Aldeguer support him at Gresini given the contract he signed with the Bologna factory at the start of the season.

And Uccio Salucci adds. “I am really happy to be able to confirm that Franco will race with the team. He was the first rider to enter the VR46 Riders Academy. We have known him for years. We have seen him grow in Tavullia and today, with great satisfaction, we can say that he will join the crew starting next season.

He is a very talented pilot, continues the team director. We look forward to welcoming him and letting him enjoy the family atmosphere that sets us apart. He will continue to race with a Ducati, a Desmosedici GP24, and we are sure he will be able to fight with the group of strongest guys. Once again, I can only thank Ducati for its support both in human and technical terms. »
