As always in sprint races this year, Marc Marquez won this Saturday's sprint race, while his brother Alex once again finished the race in second place. Fourth at the finish, fabio quartararo did not leave the two leading men indifferent, although the cannon start he showed did not shake their confidence.
“Fabio’s start was super fast. I saw him pushing at the beginning, I wasn’t sure I could keep up. So I lowered my pace and started to feel better and better, explained Marc Marquez after the raceIn the last few laps, I might have even slowed down a bit too much, but I managed to stay in front. We'll see how the race goes tomorrow, but in any case, I feel good."
Victorious but worried during the first half of the race by Fabio Quartararo, The Ducati rider nevertheless remains very complimentary. "I had a good start but I braked too late in the first corner, I was too wide, explained the winner of the day on Canal+. Then he went off and took almost a second, in just three corners. I stayed calm and came back step by step. I came back slowly, we had a great battle. It was clean, but it was close because it's difficult to overtake here. Fabio, once again it's incredible what he's doing."
Alex Marquez noted Quartararo's degradation
For his part, Alex Marquez never seemed able to compete with his brother once the two men got the better of Fabio Quartararo. The gap between the Ducatis and the others is still comfortable, but the gap between him and his brother also seems too great.
"We've made another good step forward. I really need to get some good starts because the bike was very good, he commented on a more withdrawn race launchI noticed that Fabio was starting to have problems with his rear tire, but after that the gap to Marc was too difficult to close. I'm very happy to be here even if I lost the championship lead. We'll see tomorrow how the race goes."
For the Spaniard, the contract seems fulfilled at the end of this sprint race "I said on the grid that the goal was second place, did he assumeIt was a good race, it started well, and then there was this fight with Fabio. Then I pushed a lot, I wanted to score as many points as possible and at least be on the podium. I had to set good times to be able to control the distance between Fabio and me. I feel sorry for Fabio because he really deserved to be on the podium today.
In unison, the two Marquez brothers warmly congratulated Fabio Quartararo, whom they continue to fear for Sunday's race. However, rain, or even heat, which could cause significant tire degradation, are also feared by the drivers, creating, depending on the events, two potentially very different races.
