He couldn't do anything more! Pecco Bagnaia took pole position and won both races on this last weekend of the year, at the Gran Premio de la Solidaridad in Barcelona. Jorge Martín finished third twice, but the Italian was unable to claim a third consecutive world crown, and will therefore have to rediscover his favourite number next year, number 63, instead of the number 1 he has been wearing since last year.
Logically, the man who will welcome Marc Márquez to his factory team next year was extremely disappointed to have failed in his quest for the supreme title. But with the fair play that characterises him so well, Francesco Bagnaia did not want to dwell on his own performance this Sunday, simply paying tribute to the new champion who defeated him at the end of an epic duel throughout the season. The Italian also remained on the podium throughout Jorge Martín's title celebrations, to show his respect for the man who succeeds him in the prize list.
"I don't want to overshadow what Jorge Martin has achieved, he totally deserves the title for his entire season", said Bagnaia in the Parc Fermé after the Grand Prix. “It’s his day. I just want to thank my team who have really done a great job this year, and the rest is another story. Well done Jorge!”
The work to recover the number 1 within the Borgo Panigale factory team will begin on Tuesday, with the first official tests of the 2025 season. Jorge Martín will make his debut with the Aprilia RS-GP, but Francesco Bagnaia will already want to set the tone for next year on the new version of the Ducati Desmosedici GP.
