After a difficult first weekend for Honda in MotoGP, the drivers of the Japanese factory believe that the Portuguese Grand Prix will bring them more success.

While Marc Marquez took pole position at Portimao last year aboard an RC213V, his former teammate, Joan Mir – who considers the circuit one of his favorites – finished in 11th position for his debut with the 'team. This year, as a veteran of the Japanese team, the Spaniard is certain that the competition weekend will smile more on him.

“I can’t wait to get back on the bike and continue the work we started in Qatar, assures Joan Mir. There is a lot of work to do, but after starting well on a circuit that is not the best for us, I am confident that we can do more in Portugal. It's a circuit that I like and I think we have more potential there. I'm ready to work, ready to progress and ready to experience another positive weekend riding the Honda RC213V. »

On the other side of the Repsol Honda garage, Luca Marini will continue to acclimatize to his new bike. If the Italian does not set any objective in terms of results, improving his sensations both in the race and in qualifying will be imperative for him.

“The best thing we can do right now is keep riding, so of course it's great to go to Portugal and Portimao, adds Luca Marini. It's a very different circuit to the one we started the year on, so I'm curious to see how the Honda will perform there. We are developing the bike, working with Honda, collecting information from different circuits to improve. Our goal is to find a better feeling with the bike in order to be more competitive. »
