Indonesia – Race: Jorge Martin takes his revenge

  • As in the Sprint, Jorge Martin, in pole position at the Indonesian Grand Prix in MotoGP, takes an excellent start, to claim the lead at the first corner. Behind, Pecco Bagnaia misses his start. The n°1 falls to sixth place. Enea Bastianini and Pedro Acosta take advantage to complete the top-3.
  • Before the end of the first lap, there were already four retirements. Jack Miller fell to take Alex Marquez, Aleix Espargaro and Luca Marini in his race. Joan Mir narrowly avoided them. The number 36, however, resumed his race in 17th place and dead last.
  • After just a few laps, Martin already has a lead of more than a second over Pedro Acosta, while his garage neighbour, Franco Morbidelli, also seems to be flying on his Pramac, and takes advantage of the opportunity to promote himself to third place.
  • Engaged in a fight for seventh place with Marc Marquez, Fabio Di Giannantonio fell while braking on the tenth lap. An incident that would not help his rehabilitation. He had been suffering from severe pain in his shoulder since the German GP. Marquez would also retire a few moments later. Victim for his part of an engine problem.

  • Halfway through the race, Franco Morbidelli created a traffic jam that benefited his teammate, holding back Bastianini, Bezzecchi and Bagnaia. When he finally managed to get away from Morbidelli, the #23 gained six tenths on Pedro Acosta. However, he attacked a little too much and crashed, losing the front end at Turn 1. An important moment in the fight for the title, which will probably only be decided between two drivers after this race.

  • With five laps to go, Bezzecchi and Morbidelli each made a small mistake in turn. That was all it took for Pecco Bagnaia to make his way to an unexpected podium.
  • Jorge Martin will ultimately never be troubled in Mandalika, and responds sharply to Bagnaia following a comment that displeased him at the end of the Sprint. The Spaniard therefore reaffirms his position as leader in the championship with more than twenty points ahead. Pedro Acosta commits a faultless performance in Indonesia. He takes a second place which contrasts with the performances of the other KTM riders, in difficulty with their RC16. Pecco Bagnaia reaches the finish without incident, and takes a podium.
  • The French completed a superb Sunday in Indonesia, during which fabio quartararo finds seventh place, and Johann Zarco ninth. The Cannes rider thus completes the best weekend of the year in MotoGP for a Honda rider, before the brand's home Grand Prix in Japan.
  • Beware of penalties for not respecting the tire pressure. Pedro Acosta is under threat of a sixteen-second penalty after this race, he who went through the race alone. A sanction that would drop him to fifth place. This would obviously benefit Pecco Bagnaia. The Italian could recover four points compared to Martin.
