Jack Miller: still a place at Ducati in 2023?

With many contracts ending at the end of the year like Jack Miller's, the Silly Season in MotoGP promises to be hectic. Rare are the drivers who can calmly consider their futures within their teams until 2024 like Brad Binder, Marc Márquez and the last winner of the Spanish Grand Prix, Francesco Bagnaia. Within the Ducati Lenovo Team, a place is already reserved for the Italian but the battle to ride the second bike is still ongoing.

Jack Miller who occupies this place this season may not be extended. The Australian wants to remain under the Italian flag in 2023. “ At the moment I don't have an offer yet, I'm sure Ducati would like to keep me. I'm not looking for money, I'm looking for the most competitive bike to be able to put myself in a good position to go for MotoGP victories, podiums, or whatever. I feel at home and I would like to stay at home “, explains Jack Miller in an interview for MotoGP.

Multiple candidates for one place

He is not the only one to envy the second Ducati alongside Francesco Bagnaia. Jorge Martin and Enea Bastianini have already clearly expressed their intentions to join the Italian team. So for Jack Miller, the solution may be found at Pramac Racing, which he already knew before Ducati. “ I worked like crazy to get to this position where I am now, on a factory team. But at the end of the day, I love racing and I don't want to stop Moto GP and I want to have a competitive bike. For me, if I couldn't stay with a factory team, Pramac would definitely be one of my best options. »

After finishing 4th in the championship in 2021, the new MotoGP season is not easy for Jack Miller. “ Last November, I had difficulty understanding the 2022 MotoGP engine. In Argentina, it was like an explosion, I couldn't make it work and I felt very far behind (14th) ". In Texas, the Australian and his team managed to make improvements which allowed him to achieve his first podium of the season. “ Lots of people think I'm old, yes I've been here a long time but I'm only 27. I feel that I still have youth but also that I am starting to have maturity. I feel like I'm the best 2022 version of Jack Miller we've had. » At the dawn of Suzuki's potential departure from MotoGP, opportunities for riders will be even rarer to be present on the grid in 2023.
