The family album of Team Repsol Honda is in itself a Hall of Fame for the premier Motorcycle category, from the 500 2-strokes from the end of the XNUMXth century to the present MotoGP.
If the Japanese manufacturer made its debut in the World Championship in 1982, the 1995 season marked the start of an incredible success story with the arrival on the flanks of the NSR500 of the colors of the Spanish oil company Repsol and the world manufacturer and driver double with Mick Doohan.
From Mick Doohan and Alex Criville to Marc Márquez, Sete Gibernau, Nicky Hayden, Max Biaggi, Dani Pedrosa, Casey Stoner, Jorge Lorenzo and of course Valentino Rossi, the orange machines triumph around the globe, gleaning 10 manufacturers' titles and 15 drivers' world titles to which should be added the 1983 and 1985 titles of Freddy Spencer, 1987 of Wayne Gardner and 1994 of Mick Doohan, the first of his 5 crowns conquered with the Japanese manufacturer.
The double Moto3 and MotoGP world champion follows in the footsteps of these prestigious predecessors and will therefore be Marc Marquez's teammate for the next two years. The Majorcan, who took his first steps in the premier category in 2019, had to quickly find a handlebar following the announcement of the withdrawal of Suzuki, a factory with which he still recorded 13 podiums, including a victory, but especially topped the crown in 2020, 20 years after the last one by a Suzuki rider.
Before feeling the pressure of this heritage, Joan Mir strives to savor the present moment: “I think every driver has imagined themselves wearing these colors one day, so being part of this team makes me really proud and I am thoroughly enjoying this moment in my career. I think I'm in a good dynamic and I'm young enough to try to repeat what has been accomplished in the past. So, let's see what we can do! »

While Marc Márquez celebrated his 10 years of collaboration with the team last season with a return to the forefront and, everyone hopes, the end of a long and dark medical parenthesis, Joan Mir joins him this year in a very prestigious family.
