Johann Zarco, disappointed with his fall in Austin

Recently operated on for compartment syndrome in his right arm, Johann Zarco had a rather promising start to the weekend on the Austin circuit, including a sixth place in qualifying.

But in the race, things did not go as planned. After missing his takeoff, the Cannes player was pushed back to 10th in the first score. He then tried to recover before making a mistake. “I am very disappointed,” he confided Sunday evening. Even in the warm-up, I felt pretty good. But I missed my start, the rear wheel slipped on the grid. After a few laps I found a good rhythm, but I was surprised by my crash at the first corner. »

Zarco found it difficult to hide his disappointment, especially after his operation on his right arm which gave good results. “After the operation, the arm responded quite well,” he added. I was very optimistic for the race. I clearly didn't end up where I wanted. I have two weeks to be even better with the arm and have the old physical condition to finish the last races as best as possible, but first do well in Misano where we will return after a month and I think it can go well pass. »

After the San Marino GP in Misano followed by a test session on the same track, the paddock of MotoGP will once again be on the side of Rimini for the Emilia-Romagna GP; the opportunity for Zarco, now mathematically excluded from the fight for the title, to reconnect with the podium which has eluded him since Catalonia.
