KTM returns to victory

The dreaded rain showed up at the worst time of the weekend in Buriram, namely just before the race MotoGP. The storms were such that the MotoGP race was postponed by almost an hour.

The start was given on a wet track and under a black sky giving an apocalyptic feel to this race where everyone was aware that everything could change in the snap of their fingers.

From pole position, Marco Bezzecchi took the lead on the first braking and then worked hard to build a slight lead. Comfortable in the wet, Jack Miller did not take long to move up the order to take the advantage on the fourth lap.

Winner in similar conditions at Mandalika earlier this year, Miguel Oliveira also made his way through the peloton from the fourth row on the grid. The Portuguese quickly got rid of Francesco Bagnaia then Marco Bezzecchi to climb into the wake of Jack Miller. He then waited until halfway through the race to gain the upper hand and head towards his second success of the season.

Miller secured second place ahead of Bagnaia, who was long threatened by Marc Marquez and Johann Zarco. The Frenchman, however, set a much faster pace than his opponents and even the leaders, but he curiously stopped his meteoric rise in the back wheel of Bagnaia to fail at the foot of the podium. Ducati instructions? Maybe. Still, he allows his counterpart from the Ducati clan to score 16 points and wipe out his blunder in Japan. Bagnaia thus comes back to two small points of fabio quartararo who completely missed his race.

Starting fourth, the world champion was 17e in the first round. From there, the Frenchman suffered... Passed by Pol Espargaro, Maverick Viñales, Alex Rins or even Cal Crutchlow, he could not do better than 17e under the checkered flag. For the third time this season after Assen and Aragon, Quartararo came up empty and allowed Bagnaia to come dangerously close, but also Enea Bastianini to close the gap. Mathematically, there are still seven of them who can claim the crown ahead of the next stage in around ten days at Phillip Island.
