India, like many countries in Asia, is an important two-wheel market and so is the MotoGP fan community. The MotoGP calendar welcomed Thailand in 2018 and Indonesia this year, bringing to 7 the number of Asian countries having organized a GP with Turkey, Japan, Malaysia, China and Qatar. “ India is a huge country and market, and particularly important for the two-wheeler industry and MotoGP as a sport, says Carmelo Ezpeleta. The Championship enjoys a huge fan base there. The possibility of hosting a MotoGP event there would be an incredible spectacle for our fans while allowing us to continue to grow the sport in the region, which is extremely important for all our partners and the manufacturers in particular, given the hundreds of millions of two-wheelers on Indian roads. We would love to be able to bring this project to fruition and race these incredible MotoGPs in front of the Indian fans.. "
And the CEO of Dorna continued: “ At MotoGP, we are committed to our fans and aim to make the sport accessible to everyone, regardless of where they are, who they are or their economic status. Motorcycles are an incredible means of transportation and, in many parts of the world, they are the lifeblood of society, providing economical mobility and supporting families around the world. Racing in India would be a reflection of our commitment to opening the doors to the sport as widely as possible, and would be a significant achievement for the Championship. "
After Saudi Arabia, a few weeks ago, it was India's turn to show its interest in organizing the Grand Prix. Others are on the list…
