The video games of MotoGP since 2020 have been allowing you to have fun on the KymiRing circuit in Finland. However, in reality, this is far from being the case. The Finnish Grand Prix on this circuit has so far never taken place and it could well be permanently deleted from the calendar following information reported by several local media.

Indeed, KymiRing's track is close to going bankrupt. The owners of the complex are unable to pay debts they owe to two creditors, the construction companies Maanrakennus Pekka Rautiainen ky and Macra oy.

The 4,650 km long circuit was planned for the round program in 2020, until Covid-19 was mentioned to postpone the event to 2021. But the delays in the progress of the work were mainly pointed out to explain the new postponement a year later. In 2022, Dorna, organizer of MotoGP, found the ideal pretext of the war in Ukraine and the proximity to Russia to cancel the Finnish Grand Prix. Scheduled for August 15, 2022, the Motocross World Championship meeting, MX GP, has been moved to another venue (Vauhtipuisto).

On site, the circuit is still not finished. The paddock and buildings necessary to accommodate the teams, officials and media are not yet finished. According to local media, the Paijat-Hame District Court ruled against the owners of the track earlier this week in a bankruptcy petition filed by construction companies, including the two mentioned above which cite unpaid invoices of €600.

“We know that the demand (bankruptcy) was submitted,” KymiRing CEO Riku Ronholm told the news site MTV News. « However, we have not yet received this document, we do not make any comments at this stage. KymiRing Board of Directors and Owners will discuss the matter internally today (2nd of July) and in more detail after receipt of the request and its contents. »

The Finnish Grand Prix was due to return to the world stage after an absence of 40 years. The period should continue for a few more years, in a country that has provided stars of the Continental Circus such as Jarno Saarinen, 250cc world champion in 1972 who died in an accident at the Monza Grand Prix in 1973.

Beautifully hilly route which could also accommodate Formula 1 after some security improvements (perhaps planned but not yet carried out). What does Balterri Vottas think? Don't want to settle the slate and enter the capital of the KymiRing, Balterri?
