Francesco Bagnaia set the tone for the festivities by beating Marc Márquez at the wire to take pole position for the French Grand Prix MotoGP. Back after several weeks of absence, the Catalan almost won, but the reigning world champion stripped himself in his last fast lap to beat him by 58 thousandths of a second. This return to form for Márquez is more than gratifying as his commitment to the track is a joy for the spectators. On the other hand, he must really be careful to take care of his body because with two falls in free practice he played dangerously with the limits... and we did not yet know that these would not be his last passages on the ground.
