Formerly in MotoGP the calculations were quite simple: the winner of the first meeting naturally found himself propelled to the top of the Championship. Except that this year, a new format has been introduced with not one, but two races on the weekend program. The Tissot Sprint on Saturday where half of the points are at stake, then the traditional Grand Prix on Sunday which ends a particularly intense weekend.
That being said, Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) unsurprisingly holds the lead in the championship, to the extent that no one has managed to beat him in the Algarve for the opening of the 2023 MotoGP Championship!
The Circuit de Termas de Rio Hondo is located six kilometers from the town whose name it bears, in the province of Santiago del Estero. Built on a vast 150 hectare plot of land, the circuit was inaugurated on May 11, 2008 during the arrival of the Argentine Touring Car Racing Championship. The circuit began renovation, widening and modernization work in 2012 in order to certainly become the safest and most modern circuit in South America.
