For the second round of the 2026 season, the MotoGP sets up shop in Brazil. A first in two decades. In the premier category, as in every category combined, Valentino Rossi holds the record for success in Brazil. At the Rio de Janeiro Grand Prix, at the time held on the Autódromo Internacional Nelson Piquet, the Doctor had found victory six times in total.

But in 2026, the MotoGP riders will race at the Autódromo Internacional de Goiânia. With no rider having Grand Prix experience on the track, which was still under construction until recently, the established order could be reshuffled. In Goiânia, Brazil will be able to cheer on one of its own: rookie Diogo Moreira, the Brazilian making his home debut after scoring his first points in the premier class.

Pedro Acosta heads into the second round in the championship lead for the first time in his career, following his victory in the Thailand Sprint against Marc Márquez. A first success tinged with controversy for the " Mazarrón shark He is widely expected to join the nine-time world champion at the Reds next season. Having waited two years for his first Sunday victory, he will certainly be aiming for a big win in Goiânia.

After a dazzling debut in Thailand, Aprilia is undeniably one of the leading forces on the grid, with Marco Bezzecchi securing victory for Noale at Buriram. Is that enough to break Ducati's dominance? The Borgo Panigale manufacturer did indeed end a streak of 88 podium finishes in Thailand, following Marc Márquez's retirement from the Grand Prix. It's also worth noting that the top Ducati rider after the Thai round is not the Spaniard, but the Italian Fabio Di Giannantonio.

Despite trailing Acosta by 23 points, the Spaniard is far from out of contention. As a reminder, Marc Márquez is the only rider to have won the inaugural MotoGP race at a new circuit, taking the first round four times: at the Circuit of the Americas (USA) in 2013, Termas de Río Hondo (Argentina) in 2014, Buriram (Thailand) in 2018, and Balaton Park (Hungary) in 2025. Can the Cervera native repeat his feat in Brazil?

Finally, Fermín Aldeguer, who missed the start of the MotoGP season in Thailand due to a fracture sustained during training, will attempt a comeback in Brazil, subject to a green light from doctors before the first weekend test sessions.
