Michael Dunlop completed the very first lap averaging over 130 mph (210 km/h) in the Supersport category this afternoon to pick up his 25th victory in all categories. This evening he is only one success away from the absolute record set by TT legend, his uncle Joey Dunlop.
It is still appropriate to put this performance into perspective with the route of the Isle of Man. 60,17 kilometers of roads open the rest of the year and a slalom between houses and ditches which covers a large part of the British island located in the Irish Sea between England and Ireland. To fully appreciate the excess of this race, a lap includes 264 turns covered at an average of more than 210 km/h.
Yamaha-riding Dunlop beat Peter Hickman's Triumph by just over nine seconds to claim his fourth victory of the week. Dean Harrison (Yamaha) finished third again. This morning, Michael Dunlop won the Supertwin race which was unfortunately bereaved by the fatal accident of Raul Torras Martinez. The 46-year-old Spanish pilot died in an accident at Alpine, between the 16th and 17th miles, on the third and final lap of the race.

On Friday, with the second Superstock and Supertwin races, Dunlop will have two new opportunities to join its prestigious uncle on the list of prizes. We will vibrate behind him again, but ultimately the final result does not matter. Michael Dunlop has already become a legend in motorcycling sports.
