Marc Marquez confirms he still had room for improvement in Aragon

By leading every session over the weekend, winning both races back-to-back on Saturday and Sunday, and still pulling away in the World Championship standings, Marc Marquez still seems untouchable.

Accustomed to leaving nothing to his rivals this season, Marc Marquez once again maximized his dominance. Even during the warm-up before the Grand Prix, the Spaniard was the fastest, signaling victory was on the horizon just moments later this afternoon. Finishing the Aragon Grand Prix more than two seconds ahead of Alex Marquez, Marc was satisfied with his lead given the increased competition behind him.

“It was a really incredible weekend. I led all the sessions, I stayed very focused because I clearly expected the other drivers to get closer and closer to the front of the race, and that was the case, he commented after the race. Alex Marquez and Pecco Bagnaia were very fast, but I was able to control the situation over the race distance. To be on the podium again alongside my brother, with only Ducatis in the top three, is great.

Satisfied above all with his good start this Sunday, following the slippage suffered in the Sprint, the championship leader insisted that his concentration must not fail him, in which case his pursuers would be ready to take advantage. "This time I was able to get a good start and manage my race the way I wanted to afterwards. If you want to fight for the championship, these are the kind of races you have to be able to achieve., he reminded Canal+. We mustn't make any mistakes and win as many points as possible. We can see that Alex is very strong at the back, and that Francesco is back."

Is Marquez on the verge of a string of such weekends?

Clearly very comfortable on a circuit where he has historically always performed well, Marc Marquez did not fail to point out that the gap between him and his rivals continued to narrow during the sessions. Despite everything, his lead remained significant, even today in Grand Prix racing.

"Today, if a driver had come back, yes, I still had a little margin, he agreed with a smile. I was trying to control it so I could keep that two-second lead over Alex and Pecco. In the last five laps, I started to lose focus a little bit, so when I got back into it, I accelerated and was able to set the fastest lap. The track conditions improved, so I was able to accelerate and I could have reacted if I had been caught. I'm not sure it will be as easy at Mugello because they will still be very fast."

Also recalling that his teammate Pecco Bagnaia was indeed "back" at the end of this Grand Prix, Marc Marquez nevertheless ends this new event with a 93-point lead over the Italian. A symbolic figure, while he also has a 32-point lead over Alex Marquez at this stage of the season.
