Is the King already back on his throne? In any case, Marc Marquez leads the world championship of MotoGP for the first time in over five years. You have to go back to the 2019 Valencia GP to find the eldest of the Marquez brothers at the top of the standings, the year he won his sixth and final title in the rei,e category. By winning the sprint race of the Thailand GP, the new Ducati rider confirmed that he and the others are there since the start of the weekend in Buriram.

Marquez started his day on the right foot by taking pole position, his 67th career, just ahead of his brother Alex. Thanks to a good start, the Catalan took off and was never threatened, neither by his brother, nor by his teammate Francesco Bagnaia, who was on a hard tire that he had a hell of a time warming up.
“It was a perfect Saturday, I had an extraordinary feeling with the bike.” rejoices the winner of the day with his big smile. "I was consistent, then when I saw that I had created a small gap I tried to manage it. The adventure with Ducati is starting perfectly. Tomorrow will be even more important but at least we have a victory to start with. In the GP the minimum will be to be on the podium, but I hope to be able to fight for the victory."
Marquez is "the happiest man in the world"
"Plus, I share this podium with my brother, so I'm the happiest man in the world!"he added a few minutes later to the Canal+ microphone. Since pre-season I felt I had the speed, and when it's like that, everything is in your hands. I'm in the best team, with the best bike. Everything is there, so I have to stay totally focused because I have the potential to fight for the championship. That will be the goal, even though I know Pecco (Bagnaia) will be really fast and Alex (Marquez) looks fast too. Today I'm happy, but, again, the most important thing is tomorrow."
Ducati has in any case shown that it once again has the best bike on the grid, despite Aprilia's progress during the winter, materialized by the superb fourth place of Ai Ogura, 4th on the RS-25 of the Trackhouse satellite team for his first Grand Prix in MotoGP.
