Marc Márquez wins again in Texas

After qualifying, Marc Marquez admitted that a third place on the grid was like a pole position for him. In the race, however, he was not content with taking third place on the podium.

As soon as the start was given, the Catalan took the lead at the first braking and then set his pace. If fabio quartararo, also the author of a very good start, tried to follow his Catalan rival, he preferred to secure second place and let his opponent Honda race towards his second victory of the season.

It was a little further away that the hostilities were interesting. Francesco Bagnaia, who started from pole position, lost ground on the first lap and was pushed back to sixth position halfway through. But the Italian was quick to work hard to gradually move up the hierarchy. He first defeated Alex Rins, winner here two years ago, before setting off in pursuit of Jack Miller.

It didn't take him very long to follow in the wake of his teammate, who preferred to let him pass. Bagnaia was then more than a second behind another Ducati, that of Jorge Martin, in third position.

Luckily, Martin pulled straight into the first sector of the circuit, which helped Bagnaia who was able to get back on his wheel before overtaking him. Note that for this maneuver, Martin inherited a Long Lap penalty.

By finishing on the podium behind Quartararo, Bagnaia only conceded four points to his French rival, who will however play a first match point in the fight for the crown at the next meeting in Misano in a little over two weeks. To ensure the title, he must not concede more than two points to Bagnaia at the finish.
