Marc Márquez wins the Sprint in Spain: "I controlled the gap"

Marc Márquez quickly took the lead after Fabio Quartararo's crash and easily won the Sprint race of the Spanish Grand Prix at Jerez.

Marc Márquez wins the Sprint in Spain: "I controlled the gap"

The suspense lasted only two short laps. Starting from second position on the grid for the Sprint race of the Spanish Grand Prix in Moto GP, Marc Márquez took the lead of the race from his first attack on fabio quartararo. Surprised by the Ducati rider, The Frenchman from Yamaha fell, letting the local hero fly to victory. As in every Sprint since the start of this season, Márquez beat his brother Álex. Pecco Bagnaia crossed the line in third position.

« Today was not easy, especially with the high temperatures, Marc Marquez told a delirious crowd. The sensations inevitably change, but I was prepared for it. I struggled a bit at the end of the race, but I controlled the gap. I always say that I don't like Sprints, because I'm absolutely delighted to win them, but I want to control my emotions because it's Sunday's race that counts! On the other hand, being in front of a crowd like that gives you extra energy, that's for sure! »

With this victory, he equals the record of five consecutive Sprint race victories so far held only by Jorge Martín since 2023.
