Aprilia's test day at Aragon was marked by a strong focus on the development of the RS-GP25 and encouraging results for Marco Bezzecchi, winner of the British Grand Prix two weeks earlier. Immersed in the intense work atmosphere that summed up the attitude of the paddock on Monday, the team was able to make progress on several fronts.

Marco Bezzecchi took advantage of the day to evaluate numerous elements aimed at improving the bike in various aspects, particularly during the time trial phases. The Italian was quite satisfied with his results, not hesitating to express his enthusiasm for the rest of the season.

"The aim was also to collect useful data and information, summarizes the Italian in the press release published by Aprilia. We tried not only new solutions, but also visible ones. Like a new aerodynamic package that worked well."

The Italian finished second in the general classification, just six thousandths of a second behind leader Maverick Viñales (KTM Tech3), with a best lap of 1'45.700.

"We tried several new elements to try to improve our 'time attack' times, summarizes the Italian in the press release published by Aprilia. The time we achieved at the end of the session is a step forward, a sign that we are going in the right direction."

Interesting avenues for Aprilia

In addition to aerodynamics, Bezzecchi worked on new electronic solutions, a new exhaust system developed by SC-Project, and a revised chassis, initially developed by the Trackhouse Racing team, a satellite team of the Noale-based brand. The main objective was to improve the bike's handling and gather as much reliable data as possible for the upcoming Grands Prix.

For his part, Lorenzo Savadori, Aprilia test rider and Jorge Martin's replacement during his rehabilitation, focused on evaluating and refining new electronic packages. "It was an intense day of testing. We mainly worked on completely new electronic strategies. We refine and improve these solutions by collecting useful data. Some interesting leads emerged from today's work," he explained.

Lorenzo Savadori, meanwhile, finished the day in 18th place (1'47.780). This ranking does not reflect the extent of the work accomplished, as it focused on data collection and the evaluation of new systems.

The positive feedback from Marco Bezzecchi and the technical advances highlighted by Lorenzo Savadori must now translate into Grand Prix results. Aprilia's next opportunity to shine will come in two weeks. The brand, like its riders, will then compete on home soil at Mugello for the Italian Grand Prix.
