Marc Marquez could certainly leave Austria with a better result than the fourth place obtained in the main race, after his retirement during the Sprint.
During Saturday's event, the multiple world champion was unable to keep up with Jorge Martin and Francesco Bagnaia. However, he was able to take advantage of an error from the Pramac driver to temporarily claim second position. What followed was less encouraging for the No. 93, which fell while trying to restart at Bagnaia.
Determined to take his revenge on Sunday, the Gresini driver was slowed down at the start. A mechanical problem prevented him from lowering his machine. Forced to leave his “old-fashioned” position, Marquez took off slightly, before being hit by Franco Morbidelli, losing numerous positions in the adventure.
Author of a superb comeback, he nevertheless finished the Austrian Grand Prix six seconds from the podium. Although he is satisfied with the sustained pace he maintained throughout the weekend, Marc Marquez nonetheless regrets having missed a great opportunity to shine.
