Since its creation in 2002, the World Championship MotoGP has seen many champions become teammates. In 2025, a new pair of multiple title-winning riders will join the official Ducati team.
With Marc Marquez joining Pecco Bagnaia at the Reds, the two-time MotoGP world champion will team up with the six-time premier class winner to form one of the most successful rider pairings in history.
In fact, Marc Márquez and Pecco Bagnaia will form the second duo with the most titles. With eight world championships under their belt, they share this status with two crews.
The first is the one that Marquez formed with his compatriot, Jorge Lorenzo. In 2019, and before the sixth and last title of the number 93 in MotoGP, Lorenzo's three titles allowed them to count as many. The second, composed of Valentino Rossi and Nicky Hayden, partners during the 2011 season at Ducati.
Jorge Lorenzo is also part of the most successful line-up in history. In 2016, just after winning his third premier class crown, he teamed up with Valentino Rossi, seven-time champion (1x 500cc and 6x MotoGP) at Yamaha.
MotoGP, the most successful crews in history
Of titles | Pilotes | Year | |
1 | 10 (7 + 3) | Valentino Rossi – Jorge Lorenzo | 2016 |
2 | 8 (6 + 2) | Marc Marquez – Pecco Bagnaia | 2025 |
- | 8 (5 + 3) | Marc Marquez – Jorge Lorenzo | 2019 |
- | 8 (7 + 1) | Valentino Rossi – Nicky Hayden | 2011 |
3 | 7 (6 + 1) | Marc Marquez – Joan Mir | 2023 |
It should be noted that the crews included in this ranking only include those composed of two titled riders. Otherwise, Valentino Rossi could complete lines on his own. He who has won seven titles in the premier class.
Given that Bagnaia and Marquez will be competing in the upcoming MotoGP season on what is expected to be the best bike on the grid, they appear to be the two main favourites for the title. With both having contracts with Ducati for 2026, if one of them takes the crown this year, the pair could make it nine titles next year.
