With 24 crashes in 2024, Marc Marquez was already in second place in this unfortunate ranking, just behind Pedro Acosta and his 28 occurrences. In 2023, Marquez was already the rider who fell the most regularly, with 29 crashes preventing him from maximizing his results.

This year, despite a truly dominant bike and a riding style that has allowed him to lead the way fairly for the moment, Marc Marquez has already crashed twice in races. In Austin earlier in the season, and more recently in Jerez during the final round of the championship, the eight-time world champion is aware that valuable points have been lost here and there along the way.

"Obviously, after the start we've had to the season and given the form I'm in, being second in the championship isn't great, but we're only one point behind, he acknowledged after the weekend at home in Jerez. And then, there is a reason, I made two big mistakes. I said it, if I want to fight for this championship, I have to avoid them, because it is not just about winning, winning, winning. The speed is there, but I have to manage these moments. They are two specific moments, but they both happened on Sunday. This is the year where I fall the least but I fell twice on Sunday, so I have to understand it well.

Ducati is counting on the end of unpleasant surprises

As the team furthest ahead on the grid in terms of development, Ducati does not intend to give up too much space to the competition. While Francesco Bagnaia's results were deemed insufficient during the week, Claudio Domenicali did not hesitate to send another message to Marc Marquez after Jerez.

« Marc is extraordinary, he drives very well. He sometimes makes a few small mistakes through overconfidence, he commented. He nevertheless shows that he has the bike in hand. Let's say that a small mistake from time to time can pass. Let's hope that it's done for a while now!

Just a unit behind his brother Alex Marquez, who has been opportunistic and consistent until now, Marc Marquez seems to have all the assets to take back the lead this weekend at Le Mans. Nevertheless, the tone is set at Ducati. Despite the confidence placed in its champion duo, the Italian team does not intend to ease the pressure and risk failure in such a dominant position on the sporting front.
